My desire to understand conservation, cause and effects, has been amplified through my observation of wildlife and their habitats. The gift and curse as a nature photographer echoes the stark contrast between their woodland home and the concrete environment of the city. The loss of wetlands, farmland encroachment, and urban development reduce the available habitats and disrupt the ecological process. Fragmentation by roads and dams creates barriers, causing isolation and hindering breeding and movement. Migration patterns are changing.

In 1970, Joni Mitchell had the foresight to record a song with the lyrics:

“Don’t it always seem to go…That you don’t know what you got ‘til it’s gone?

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.”
